Why our frankincense is different: Omani Sacra (Hojari)

Not all frankincense is the same.

We only use Omani Frankincense (Boswellia sacra)—specifically Hojari, which is known as the highest grade of frankincense resin from Oman. It’s prized for its purity and aroma, and it has a long history in Oman as the most respected frankincense type.

This matters because the quality of the raw resin impacts everything—how the oil smells, how it feels in a daily routine, and the overall experience.

What is frankincense essential oil?

Frankincense essential oil is distilled from the resin of the Boswellia tree. For us, that means Boswellia sacra from Oman—not a blend, not a mix from different countries, and not “fragrance oil.”

One important note: you may also hear people talk about Boswellia supplements (capsules/extracts). That’s a different form than essential oil. In this blog post, we’re talking specifically about frankincense essential oil for aromatic and topical use.
